BOOKS THAT CAN HELP...
July 7, 2024 BOOKS THAT CAN HELP...”Running To The Edge"
I'm going to highlight Book{s} that have helped me over the years in Running and/or Triathlons....{Or even Life...lol}.
The books that I am going to highlight....are Biographies/Autobiographies/In depth studies on Training...not only on the physical but also on mental and how your personal life affects your training. Consistence and Balance!!
“Running to the Edge” is the story of Bob Larsen .
Here is just a taste…
“…Bob Larsen became one of the Greatest running coaches. Starting with a ragtag group of high school cross-country runners, Larsen set out on a journey to discover the mysteries of running impossibly fast. A former farm boy who fell in love with the sport as a teenager, Larsen rose through the coaching ranks as the running craze was born in the 1960’s and “70s. …He relentlessly sought the “Secret Sause” of speed and endurance that would catapult American Running onto the international stage.”
“Help me Understand why we Run"
“It is the brain, not the heart or lungs, that is the critical organ”…Rodger Bannister, Miler
“When no one sees you coming, you have them right where you want them….For a moment one week earlier, on the middle Sunday of the Olympic Games {2004}, the running world stopped and had to reconsider Larsen’s sanity. On that day, American Deena Kastor came from way, way back in the women’s marathon and sneaked onto the podium with a bronze medal, the first U.S. distance medal since 1984. Deena who? Kastor had been one of the runners Larsen and his partner in crime, Joe Vigil, started shuttling up to Mammoth Lakes a few years back,”
By the way….In my opinion…LARSEN and VIGIL are two of the Greatest Middle Distance and Distance coaches!!!!
There are so many Gems….Read this book with a highlighter and especially a pen and paper and take notes. The notes you take can revolutionize your runs/races!!!
Thanks,
Ran
