The books that I am going to highlight....are Biographies/Autobiographies/In depth studies on Training...not only on the physical but also on mental and how your personal life affects your training. Consistence and Balance!!
The 2nd book is “How Bad Do You Want It…{Mastering The Psychology of Mind Over Muscle}…M. Fitzgerald
DESIRE!!!! WOW…That is the key…after all the training it just comes down to Desire…wanting something!!! {Running a distance..…{1 mile – a Marathon}…A Pace {I want to break ? in a 5K or Marathon}… the list can go on…. You decide what you want and go after it!!!!
This book covers an impressive collection of real-life examples of how perception of effort and other psychological factors affect endurance performance. These real-life examples are awesome…So many Athletes!! So many Stories!!
Here are a few exerts…
“Physical fitness determines where the wall that represents your physical limit is placed. Mental fitness determines how close you are able to get to that limit in competition. Mental fitness is a collection of coping skills—behaviors, thoughts, and emotions that help athletes master the discomfort and stress of the athletic experience…”
“Mark Allen hit the nail on the head when he described Endurance Racing as “a test of you as a person” on top of a test of you as an athlete.”
Chapter 2 goes in detail about Jenny Barringer Simpson. One of American’s top Middle Distance Runners.
“The most successful endurance athletes over the age od 40 are so similar in personality it’s almost uncanny. What we see in all of these men and women is a limitless passion for sport and for the athletic lifestyle that stems from a positive life-embracing personality {IE. A non-neurotic, open, extroverted, conscientious style of coping with life}.”
These are just a few exerts….
